Mission:
The Serpent's Tooth [3]
Location: Great Hall, Upper Level
Timeline: Simultaneous to 'Dawning as a Soul'
As the lights went out and the serpent-shaped zat’nik’tel weapons were deployed in the great hall, the Ambassadorial parties from Federation allies on the upper balcony were not attacked. As the lights restored, it became obvious that the Jaffa present were armed and ready to stun them as was being done downstairs.
The tension was immediate and obvious though all remained silent. One of the Klingons lurched suddenly and was stunned by a shot of the weapon, falling to the floor with a cry.
“If whatever she says down there is meant for us, I cannot hear it. I have been in proximity to many weapons of enormous size.” The Dowager-General said to the Jaffa, aware of the carry-on, and more able to hear it than she let on.
“You will be silent. The Great Queen Hera has seized this facility. You will not be harmed if you obey.” The Jaffa said.
“This is an act of war against the Romulan people. Are you certain this is your mistress’ wish?” Creon asked coldly.
“I will not tell you again. If you disobey, you will be fired upon.” The Jaffa told her.
As they were corralled together, Creon touched two fingers against the back of Kloh’theQ’s palm, forming a weak telepathic circuit between them, allowing her to communicate.
Do not be alarmed, Dowager General.
I hope I do not disappoint you when I tell you this is not my first telepathic experience, Llaudh Creon.
You can keep your people calm, I trust?
It would be best not to be calm in order to rip the worms from the guts of these petaqs.
They have the drop on us. There is no fighting our way out of this, barring some outside intervention.
Then perhaps today is a good day to die, hmm?
You will have plenty of opportunities to die in future, Dowager-General, I will make sure of it if it calms you. They must intend to flee. The only vessels large enough to accommodate them all are the Excalibur and your own Bird-of-Prey.
You do not have a ship of your own in the system, Ambassador? Kloh’theq said in an exaggerated, knowing way.
At present I do not. If there is one thing Klingon ships are known for however, the B’rel in particular, it is being commandeered by outsiders. Creon teased sharply.
What do you propose? Kloh’theQ asked.
Patience. Downstairs it sounded like the station’s security chief was unwisely opposing the Goa’uld Hera. Creon was disappointed that she was the one to turn on them. She did so admire the Olympian Queen’s dress sense.
If Starfleet starts a fight, I will not be able to restrain my men.
If anyone starts a fight, we may all die. Do what you can.
Below, Hera had begun to torture Lieutenant Thul for his impudence, before the Subcommander surrendered.
Typical Federation cowardice. Kloh'theQ criticised.
Perhaps. But there is an opportunity here to earn the Federation's favour. It may not be either of our goals, but it is a useful currency.
We will see. Kloh'theQ replied through thought.
As the Jaffa all rushed down the stairs to leave following Hera, soon they were left alone.
"I expect we should see to the Captain. He may need our help." Creon spoke aloud.
"Let us hope." The Dowager General responded, before shouting commands at her men.
