Mission Summary
A Klingon ship departs DS13 on a deep space exploration mission, when a distress call is received the next day the ship is much further away than it should have been able to travel. The USS Hercules is sent to investigate and provide aid.
The rescue mission discovers that the Klingon ship has been overtaken by Borg and its crew assimilated, with the exception of a few cadets who were able to send a distress call. The discovery is interrupted by the arrival of a Cardassian Dreadnought under the command of Legate Malak, but once he learns of the Borg situation he quickly flees the scene, leaving his people behind.
The crew on the Klingon ship venture further, discovering a linked Borg vessel that was not visible from the outside. Within they find Borg under the leadership of a drone designated 'Locutus', who is unexpectedly negotiable. Working together under the agreement that the assimilated Klingons will be released, the crew and the Borg use the recovered parts of the Klingon slipstream drive to bring the Borg vessel out of subspace.
Legate Malak and his forces soon return and demand the surrender of the Borg technology, but the arrival of the Klingon fleet under the leadership of Ambassador Kloh'theQ prompts them to flee once more. Back on the ship, while Commander S'Lace considers terms to allow the Borg to surrender and maintain their way of life, the Marine Major Kalath stuns them so they can be de-assimilating, ending the stand-off. Their mission resolved, and the Klingons in the care of their own people, the Hercules returns to DS13.

The Order of Divine Harmony colony on Dreizhen III reports faults with their power systems that DS13 sends a crew to assist with. The crew discover that many of the Order are missing, and discover strange and ferocious lifeforms across the desert planet.

On Dreizhen III, four teams depart Shitau, going North, South, East and West. The North Team finds a strange artificial structure apparently built by giant ants, but inhabited by strange and intensely belligerent creatures. Beneath the surface, they are swarmed by ferocious warrior bugs. They are able to keep them at bay with starfleet weaponry, but only a single member of the team is able to escape after the ground under the fleeing team collapses before they can escape the tunnels.

The South team encounters a giant desert worm with no internal moisture, the away team avoids being devoured by it by good flying alone. The East team discovers two variants of lifeform dubbed 'dragons', one which swims through the sand like water, another of which was able to overcome and feed on a giant ambush predator that manifests as a great toothy maw in the sand.

In the west, a single white rabbit was encountered, and when approached the creature quickly killed four Jaffa warriors. Buoys were left encouraging locals to avoid the area.

While the east, south and west teams all return on time, they become concerned when the northern team does not. Before they can begin to investigate, one of the escort fighters is downed after reporting the Faraday is damaged amidst sightings of giant insects. A variety designed with an artillery plasma weapon creates a storm in the atmosphere that cuts off communications, and even takes shots at DS13 itself, requiring the station to move out of its range.

An away team from the Faraday are taken prisoner by hostile insectoids, while captive below the surface they learn that the Order's Grandmaster M'Hum and his inner circle have taken to worshipping their psychic leadership organism as a deity they know as the 'Undermind'.
Aboard DS13, the supersoldier Ramielos Volsunga successfully makes the argument that his armour will withstand the storm in the atmosphere where their vessels and weapons cannot, and he is launched from orbit to assist. Arriving with minimal damage, he proceeds to slaughter the Bugs by the dozens, and free the crew of the downed Faraday.
The remaining survey teams are called back to Shitau, where a massive onslaught of Bugs threatens to destroy the colony. Desperate for support, Commander T'Zor convinces Lieutenant Eldan to make an appeal to the Atenist Regent Typhoeus, while she goes to Akhenaten for support.
Below, the captive crew are forced to watch as the 'Undermind' feeds on the brain of the captive Captain Palamas, with M'Hum suggesting the others will be next. As Commander Creon is taken to be the next victim of the Undermind, she is rescued by the Tok'ra Polyphron, believed dead in their capture. She agrees to let the Tok'ra blend with her in order to save them all.
While before the Undermind, Commander Creon releases Polyphron, who takes control of the Undermind and instructs its warriors to turn on each other or self-destruct, saving the colony from imminent destruction.
